Hi, I'm Jodie Hardwick

I am an award winning photographer from Newton Abbot, Devon. I've worked as a photographer for over ten years now, specialising in unposed studio and wedding photography.

Photography was never my intended profession.

It was actually the case that I have always loved working with families. I adore children, and previously worked as a Nanny and a teaching assistant (I was even well on the way to training as a teacher...) . I've always been a bit of a clown; spending much of my time trying to make others laugh. I started doing a little bit of photography on the side of my degree to earn me a little bit of a beer money: setting up a naff little backdrop and some £50 lights in church halls and charging £30 for a session with about 200 digitals and some dodgy quality prints. Whilst my photography back then left much to be desired: I did find that I had somewhat of a talent at getting the best from families. Making them laugh, bringing them out of their shell and making them feel comfortable. Quite accidentally, I had discovered that I had something to offer people.

That was just the start. I began training like it was going out of fashion, and practising on every baby and toddler I could find. I would voluntarily assist photographers at weddings or offer to do free photography for people who weren't planning on having any. The better I got, the more training I did. I worked with every style of photographer and would ask others constantly for feedback and advice. The photography community is a wonderful, supportive one: I have learned from professionals all over the world.

Over the years, I've changed my style; tried out different studio setups and kit; always on the hunt for my place in this industry. And a few years ago, I took the plunge and decided to follow my heart: offering completely unposed studio and photography: with minimal props and backdrops. In a totally natural studio. My wedding photography is no different: my main aim is to make sure that you and your family get to enjoy every minute of your day.

When I'm not working, I'm... ah, who am I kidding. I'm always working!

I do have three daughters, a very stupid Old English Sheepdog, Lionel Messi, and a husband who shares my love of travel, wine and definitely does not share my love of nineties pop.

Having children has really shaped me as a photographer. it means I know, first hand, how quickly their childhoods go, and how important it is to capture those moments: those real, fleeting, gorgeous moments.
